  • This session will unpack the theme of the seminar with a view of understanding the value and importance of data and how data can be leveraged for the benefit of any organization and for society. - The keynote speakers will be followed by a panel discussion with both local and international specialists. An interaction moment will be featured to stimulate knowledge and ideas.

  • This session will detail the key elements of the ecosystem required for a sound data strategy. Participants will have a clear understanding of the ecosystem required for a sound data strategy for their country or organisation. The session will comprise of two keynote addresses followed by a panel discussion. Panellist will be drawn from both Seychelles and overseas. An interactive debate will follow brief presentations by the panellists.

  • There will be a breakaway session comprising of four (4) groups. Each group will focus on key aspects of the theme. Participants will have the chance to discuss with specialist and presenters in smaller groups (appx. 30 pax). The moderator or designee will present the key outcomes of the deliberations in Session 4 on Day 2.

    Each group from the Breakaway session will deliver a report of the discussions of the previous day. This will be followed by short impressions by the four presenters. An interaction session will follow.

  • This session will feature the presentation of two projects that have successfully used data in a critical way, both in fisheries. One uses block chain technology for export certification of fisheries, an asset of major significance to Seychelles, in order to meet the consumer’s requirements for transparency, accountability, good governance and sustainability in fisheries from production to consumption. The other project discusses how it has leveraged data to produce outcomes that have had an impact on national policy. After the presentations there will be an opportunity for questions, comments and answers.
